Today, I ventured out searching for lines and patterns of nature. I spotted some yellow lillies and decided to use them as mu subject. Setting the camera to double exposure mode, I took one shot with the flowers in focus and a second shot slightly out of focus. I also blurred out the background in post-processing.

I really like the softness in the background and the angle of the image. Now, I need to decide if the image would look better with a white, or black mat (for a future competition). Your feedback is appreciated!

  1. Hi Cindy. Nice shot! You know me, I like a double mat. If you're going with a single mat, picking between black or white, I think I would go with black. Since the photo is so "soft" I think black would create a nice contrast. If you were to go with a double(if competition allows that), I think I would go with dark, almost black green on the top with an antique white beneath.
If you need any help with the framing, you know where to find me! :)

  2. Thanks for the comments and your matting advice. I agree with a black mat, but it needs to be a single mat for LCC competition. I will probably frame it though:) I'll contact you!
